FINALLY!

The sun is out after 5 days of rain.
I thought I was going to lose my mind!
I'm taking the twins out for a looong walk this afternoon :)

I know, I know...

I said now that we have internet I'd be better about posting, but it just seems that I can't usually find the time for it, or when I do I don't have anything good to blog about. Oh well, I guess you'll just have to be ok with my sporadic blogging attempts for now :)

Is this year already flying by or what? It is March and warmer weather is coming soon! It has already made an appearance on several occassions which is such a tease and makes the cold days that follow even more miserable. Today has been cold and rainy, but it is fun to see my daffodils and tulips poking out of the ground...a little promise of Spring.

January and February weren't too eventful for us other than hitting some of our financial goals, buying a car and me turning 23. We also celebrated my Mom and Rebekah's birthdays in January. I have really enjoyed this season with my family. I don't know how long we'll all live so close together and have the opportunity to share life together so intimately. I cherish the times we all get to hang out together. What a blessing family is!

My car is in the shop today due to some coils in the engine that gave out and need to be replaced. It wouldn't have been a big deal except that I was planning to go up to Richmond this afternoon to hang out with Bekah H. and Nicki H. So I was kinda bummed that it spoiled my plans for the weekend. Good opportunity to give it to the Lord, though! By his grace I feel like I responded well when it happened and have been able to trust him with the details of getting it fixed, cost, etc. I've been working on trusting Him even with the little things knowing that he is intimately involved with every part of my day.

I have been making salads every night for dinner this week and it's been so good for us! Steve agreed to do it with me and we've been pleasantly surprised at how much we've enjoyed them. I did one that had a southwestern flare (lettuce, corn, tomato, chicken, peppers, avocado, onions) a greek/garden salad with chicken, and a sweet fruity salad (lettuce, onions, strawberries, apples, craisins, almond slivers). I think I'm going to keep going with it this next week! That and making a point of drinking more water...I'm bad about that. But we are about to go ruin our good track record by eating some good ol' Chick-fil-a!! YUMM. We have Leader's Care Group tonight, so I'm gonna go get myself ready. Thanks for reading my random update! Hopefully more later.

This is the new addition to the family! Steve came across it last month at one of his dealerships..it was a trade-in and the manager sold it to us for dirt cheap. Great deal! It's been so fun to drive! I feel spoiled drivin around in a bmw!

White Christmas 08

I uploaded my pics in the wrong order. Oh well! You'll get the idea. We stopped in NYC on our way home for a couple hours. We saw the Statue of Liberty from a distance (in the fog:), Wall Street and the financial district, and Ground Zero as well as other random stuff. It was so fun!

Ground Zero...the construction that is still taking shape.

It was still such a sobering place to be.

On Wall Street

I thought this was a cool shot...an old church building standing stark against this enormous modern sky scraper...
my cutie boy
The Stanton Island Ferry that we didn't want to wait 2 hours to get on :)

So this was our view from the other side.
Me petting the Bull...
Josiah opening some presents

Beano and little Elliot

We went to breakfast at a neat little place called Bean Town

The day we got there it snowed about 15 inches!!!
Still coming down hard.

Their Charlie brown Christmas tree
The cozy wood stove...where we spent most of our time :)

Father and daughters-in-law...awww

haha..comparing stockings :)

The frozen swimming pool

Despite getting the 24 hour flu bug while we were there, overall we had a great time with Steve's family. It was fun to have a white Christmas, something we pretty much never have here in VA. Thanks Mom and Dad Crabb for a fun week! We love and miss you guys.

What we've been up to...

Life is going on at a normal (busy) pace here at the Crabbs...we haven't had internet at our house for a couple months, hence the lack of posts. Sorry for boring and disappointing all you readers. I'm hoping to get back into it now that I can get online at my convenience! My job is still going great and I'm thankful for God's provision through it. Work is getting slower and a bit harder to come by for Steve with the economy slowing down...but God has been faithfully meeting our needs and providing in abundance! He is so good and worthy of our trust. I have a lot of random pictures starting with Nadine and Dustin's wedding back in September!
They are mainly pictures of people at our table :)

A baby shower for Rebekah at her sister-in-law Christy's house.

Steve and I went on a day trip to Williamsburg the first weekend in November. It was a gorgeous day, mid 70's, sunny and perfect for a drive along Colonial Parkway starting in Yorktown and ending up in Williamsburg. We stopped a few times along the way for pictures.
driving along the parkway.

an amazingly beautiful tree in Colonial...

AND as of yesterday we are now enjoying this baby...
Steve hooked it all up today (which was quite a process) and we are very excited to finally have a tv!
This is Steve after mounting the tv and figuring out all the wiring! He was pooped and ready to sit and enjoy the football game which now comes in on a crisp, clear HD channel :)

I am getting so excited about Christmas! We are having our caregroup Christmas party on the 10th, so I'm planning for that and brainstorming for Christmas gifts...haven't done much shopping yet, but that's always enjoyable for me so I'm looking forward to it.

It's now time to cook up some BLT's for dinner...yummm.
