study night...

Rach is over here hanging out at our place tonight. She's been staying with us since Saturday since my parents left for Arkansas. She is flying out tomorrow, but she didn't want to stay home alone. So we're having a grand 'ole time! She has a big midterm in anatomy tomorrow, so we're having a study night tonight. I'm doing some homework and some blogging :) Steve is just doing some computer stuff...and Rach is studying like crazy! We had some yummy chicken marinara for dinner and now we're all sippin some chai. One of those cozy fall nights...all we're missing is a glowing fireplace.

two years to the day...

It was two years ago exactly that Steve and I met!

God has blessed me more than I could have imagined with the best husband in the world!!

How thankful I am for his love and amazing care for me! Each day is more wonderful than the last. I am so thankful for my best friend and greatest love.

Well today has been the best kind of Saturday...the kind where you don't do much at all but relax and enjoy yourself. It began with Steve's bible study at the church this morning. While he was gone, I got some cleaning done as well as made chili and cornbread for lunch. Brian (Steve's brother) came over and had lunch with us and hung out for a while. Then Steve and I took a nap and then went shopping this afternoon for a coat for me. I found one that I love at PacSun. It's exactly what I wanted. I didn't really have any school that I had to get done today so we've just been hanging out this afternoon, watching football, etc. We are now about to leave for the singles meeting at church, so I gotta run. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

2007 Integrity Fall Review Party (80s Style!)

Saturday night we went to the Integrity fall review party. The theme was the 80s...almost everyone dressed up and oh my goodness there were some hilarious outfits. I only snapped a few pictures so you won't get the full effect, but some people went all out. Scott Hughes won best guy costume (I think) and Karen Delp won best girl. They looked great. Augie made all the food and it was SO good as always. It was a fun night of hanging out and reviewing God's faithfulness over the past year and then looking forward to the future.

This one came out really blurry (as if you can't tell) but I went ahead and put it on here so you can see Kris Johns mullet! It was hysterical!

update time...(yeah, we're still alive)

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Our life is pretty busy right now with school and work and church and family and friends (but isn't everybody's??). It's amazing how fast a week flies by.

I am so excited that there are only a little over 4 more weeks of school left (including finals!)!!!! Yay! The semester has flown by, despite my grim outlook in the beginning when it seemed that it would never be over. I am, however, doubting my ability to get through another semester. It's definately going to have to be the grace of God that pushes me to the end. My motivation is dwindling big time. But the good news is my Savior's strength and empowering grace is far greater than any of my efforts! Thank goodness for the spirit's work in my life.
I will register for the spring semester next week. I think the plan is to take 18 credits so I can finish up and graduate in May. In order to do that I will have to take two night classes (which I'm definately not looking forward to), and the other 4 classes will be spread out so that I'll have to be over in Norfolk every day again. I was really hoping to work it out so that I could do just MonWedFri or TueThur, but alas, that won't be the case. Becauses of this crazy schedule, I won't be teaching lessons. I will miss it, but I'm relieved to not have to work lessons into an already full week. Steve has released me from this so I can just focus on school. I'm so thankful for his support and encouragement!

Steve is enjoying working for Integrity. God has been blessing him as he has been faithful to work hard and invest into his accounts. I'm so proud of him...he has such a great work ethic and takes it very seriously. We are thankful for this company whose goal and mission in the work place is to bring glory to the name of Christ. We have the Integrity Fall party tonight (80s theme), so I'll probably be posting pictures of that. Should be fun.

We are definitely looking forward to the holiday season! Thanksgiving will be a little different this year since my whole family will be in Arkansas visiting my mom's family. Steve and I will be celebrating here as our own little family :) It will be a fun, relaxing time. We'll spend Christmas here as well...probably doing something with my family. Steve's parents are coming for a week in early December which we're looking forward to. I'm glad we'll get to see them during the holidays even though we can't make it up to New Hampshire.

Well, there's a little peek into our lives as of late...I will try to do more posting when I can. I now have to get back to writing a paper on Vietnam for my Cold War history class :)

my baby's the best!

After a crazy week of sickness and midterms what does Steve do? My love took me on an overnight getaway to DC!! Have I mentioned that I have the sweetest, most loving, thoughtful guy EVER! You're the best baby!

We went up early Saturday morning, went to the zoo, the Holocost museum, and hung out on the mall. The weather was sooo nice - perfect for walking around and enjoying the sites. Then we stayed at a hotel in Gaithersburg and went to Covenant Life on Sunday morning. Neither of us had been before, so it was sweet to check it out. It was a much needed break from school and work. We had so much fun together.

As if that weren't enough, he bought me a new digital camera too! My old one wasn't working, so he was hoping it would get here in time for our little trip, but alas, it didn't come til Saturday after we had left. But the new camera was here when we got home, and it's sweet! I've had fun messing around with it tonight. So since my other one was broken, we took his old one. It's not super great quality and it ran out of batteries half way through, so I only got a couple shots.

Here they are.

going crazy!

Ok, so today is Wednesday and my last day to study for the 3 midterm exams I have tomorrow. Yes, that's right...all 3 of my midterms land on the same day. GREAT. I have an exam for my Cold War history class, my American history class and my Editing and Document design class. 3 vastly differnent subjects each with hundreds of terms, names, dates, policies, editing symbols, grammar and usage rules, design guidelines, AP style rules, etc...you get the point. I also have a bad cold/cough so I'm not feeling that great to top things off.

Anyway, I just stopped to take a minute to pray and quiet myself before the Lord and ask for his grace which is sufficient in my time of need. I realized that I've been trapped in my own self-sufficiency for the past few days and have been very overwhelmed. Why is it that I forget so quickly that my loving Savior is always ready and waiting to supply me with the strength and grace I need to accomplish all that he has called me to if I just simply ask? He is so kind to stop me in my tracks and remind me of my need for him.

I'm asking for your prayers as well. If you think of it, pray for me today and tomorrow!

oh to be a kid...

I stopped by my mom's the other day when she was keeping Duncan. She had him outside in this little pool, and he LOVED it. He was so adorable splashing around and playing with the bowls and measuring cups. The things that keep kids entertained...

Anyway, I had to post these cuz they're too funny. Enjoy :)
